Abstract
IN the course of investigations on the response of plants and of ‘phytocarcinomatata’ various carcinogenic hydrocarbons and other compounds having the phenanthrene nucleus1,2,3, it was found that some of these substances had an inhibitory action on the general somatic growth of certain plants. It was also found that it was possible to restore the normal growth-rate of these plants by simultaneous administration of certain plant extracts.
