Toxic Properties of ω Fluoro-Carboxylic Acids and Derivatives

Abstract

WE have already reported1 upon the highly toxic nature of fluoroacetic acid, FCH2COOH, and its derivatives. The present communication gives an account of further work on the toxicity of allied compounds. The earlier part of the present investigation was carried out under the segis of the Ministry of Supply during the War, and reports were submitted to that Ministry from time to time and were made available to American workers. The more recent parts of the work have been sponsored by the Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. (General Chemicals, Widnes). We are grateful, therefore, to the Chief Scientist, Ministry of Supply, for permission to publish the details of the reports to the Ministry of Supply, and to Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., for grants which have enabled us to continue the work.
