Abstract
IT is well known that all compounds containing titanium ions surrounded by six oxygen ions show high indices of refraction, and with the aid of the Lorentz – Lorenz formula high values of the electronic polarizabilities are calculated. Unfortunately, this formula is not rigorously valid for any of these titanium compounds because of the low symmetry of the crystal structures.
