Abstract
AS obtained by us, the xylan of R. palmata after purification contained 0.5 per cent of ash and had [α]D − 99.3° (c = 1.44 H2O). Methylation followed by hydrolysis gave the same methyl xyloses as those obtained by the Edinburgh workers, and they were roughly estimated to be in the same proportion.
