Abstract
REPRODUCTIVE processes in insects are controlled by hormones1. The corpus allatum has for some time been known as an organ of internal secretion necessary for the normal development of eggs in many insects; in some species it also influences the secretion from accessory sex glands. The medial groups of neurosecretory cells in the brain have been demonstrated to have a hormonal influence on egg development in the fly Calliphora 2.
