Abstract
FROM a preliminary analysis of two systems, the ground state of gaseous VO has been shown to be a case bβj 4Σ− state which exhibits a large, yet unresolved, hyperfine structure1. Subsequent analysis of better adsorption plates of both systems has revealed perturbations in ν = 0 and ν = 1 of X4Σ− which affect the F2(J = N + ½) and F3(J = N − ½) components to a similar extent but in an opposite sense.
