It has been pointed out that other plants have been reported previously to take up and tolerate arsenic from soils1,2,3,4,5, but we would like to stress that, unlike brake fern (Pteris vittata), none of these plants has been shown to hyperaccumulate arsenic — that is, the concentration of arsenic in their aboveground biomass was less than that in the soil and in the plant roots.
