Paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria
Nature Reviews Disease Primers volume 6, Article number: 15 (2020)
Paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare haematological disease. A mutation in haematopoietic stem cells can result in the generation of red blood cells lacking surface molecules that prevent the complement system targeting the cells. This animation highlights the complex pathological mechanisms of PNH and the available treatments. To learn more about PNH, check out the Primer and PrimeView.
