  • Please note we strongly recommend to our authors writing about SARS-CoV-2 that they follow WHO approved nomenclature for variant strains. We recommend the Pango nomenclature, but GISAID and Nexstrain are also approved.

  • npj Vaccines has a 2-year impact factor of 9.2 (2022), article downloads of 925,948 (2022) and 8 days from submission to first editorial decision (2022).

  • While mortality associated with COVID-19 has reduced remarkably with the arrival and broad adoption of effective vaccines, it is still a major public health concern, with up to two million new infections reported annually. In this special collection, the editors of npj Vaccines identify articles that illustrate the amazing progress made, but also the challenges that still lay ahead.

  • Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep A) is a worldwide cause of morbidity and mortality, and there is a hypothesis that Strep A vaccines are substantially undervalued. The editors gathered articles focussing on innovative ways to assess the value of vaccination. The approaches outlined in this collection should also be useful for the assessment of the value proposition for other vaccines.
