Abstract
HETEROCYCLIC compounds having four members in the ring are difficult to prepare, and are generally less well known than the 3-, 5- and 6-membered rings of the same type. In the cyclic ethers, for example, oxetanes have been studied relatively little compared to oxiranes and tetrahydrofurans.
