Abstract
AN account of the Kyoto University expedition to Peru to observe the total solar eclipse of June 8, 1937, is given by Prof. Issei Yamamoto, who states that excellent photographs showing the structure of the inner corona were obtained by means of a ten-metre camera.

In the note in NATURE of September 18, p. 509, referring to Dr. A. L. Reimann's communication, the statement: "the linear rate of decay of the phosphorescence of zinc-blende" should read: "the linear rate of decay of the inverse of the square root (p–½) of the phosphorescence of zinc-blende".
