Abstract
SOME years ago, during a search for the presence of reducing substances in plants, I obtained a positive Simon and Piaux1 (nitro-prusside) test for pyruvic acid in oaioa juice. Owing to the intensity of the reaction it seemed worth while to estimate and identify pyruvic acid.
