Abstract
PROF. L. B. ARGUIMBAU'S title is perhaps more suitable for one of those gloomy, but useful, volumes cataloguing every conceivable circuit in which valves have ever been used or misused, for he has actually written a modern and critical account, at undergraduate level, of the basic principles of radio communication which emphasizes fundamentals instead of circuit details of ephemeral interest. The treatment uses mathematics quite freely, and a good knowledge of calculus, Fourier series and some of the simpler properties of Bessel functions is assumed. In no case, however, does the author allow himself to lose sight of the physical facts he wishes to elucidate.
