Enzymes involved in Glutamate Metabolism in Legume Root Nodules

Abstract

GLUTAMIC acid, α-alanine and aspartic acid are some of the early products of nitrogen fixation in legume root nodules1,2. Enzymes involved in the synthesis of these amino acids in root nodules of Trofolium repens (white clover), Pisum sativum (pea) and Medicago sativa (lucerne) were examined in the investigations reported here.
