Abstract
THE acceleration of the sinus venosus of the frog's heart induced by epinephrine may be the result of an increase in the conductance of sodium1. We also know that the action potential of the frog atrium is abolished in sodium free solutions2. We have tested the effects of tetrodotoxin on these responses because this poison selectively blocks the increase in the conductance of sodium which is responsible for the generation of action potentials in many tissues3.
