B-cell suppression of delayed hypersensitivity reactions

Abstract

DURING certain normal immunisation schedules, suppressor cells are generated and act in suppressing the expression of delayed hypersensitivity reactions1,2. The suppression is immunologically specific and is dependent on living cells. We have suggested that the suppressor cells were B cells because they are depleted when 300 mg kg−1 cyclophosphamide (CY) is given 3 d before sensitisation3–5.
