Schematic view of the nanopillar with layer thicknesses and the measurement set-up, including the direction of positive current I and the in-plane component of the applied external field, B|. The d.c. sample current is provided by a constant current source, where positive current corresponds to electrons flowing from the top to the bottom electrode. High-frequency signals arising from magnetization dynamics are coupled out through a bias tee and are recorded with a spectrum analyser.
