In our Editorial 'Where credit is due' (Nature Phys. 6, 395; 2010), we stated incorrectly that John Clauser never gained a permanent position in physics. In fact, Dr Clauser went on to a tenured position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The Editorial should rather have indicated that Dr Clauser never gained a permanent position to research the foundations of quantum mechanics — the field that he (and others) launched. This error has been rectified in the HTML and PDF versions of the Editorial.
