Abstract
The insertion of certain aromatic or aliphatic Lewis bases between every sheet of the metal dichalcogenides NbSe2 and TaS2 is directly revealed by high resolution electron microscopy. The interlayer spacing of TaS2 increases from 0.6 to 1.0 nm on intercalation of pyridine.
