An insight to studying dentistry abroad

Dentistry is an attractive career due to a myriad of factors: excellent prospects for graduates, a defined career pathway as an evolving profession and opportunities for further self-development. Unsurprisingly, it is one of the top ten most favoured courses in United Kingdom (UK) universities, demonstrated through a 20% increase of applicants over the last decade.1 Unsuccessful applicants attempt reapplication which exacerbates the competition; thus, some students turn to alternative roads to undergraduate dental education.

For this article, three UK students studying dentistry abroad have offered their opinions and insight; based on their experiences through the UK admissions route and current education in Spanish universities (Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Catolica de Valencia).
