Salvage radiotherapy: a new standard of care

Adjuvant radiotherapy following radical prostatectomy (RP) has been shown to reduce the risk of disease recurrence in men with high-risk prostate cancer. Nonetheless, this strategy represents overtreatment for some, who would not otherwise have disease recurrence following RP.

Now data from three randomized controlled trials indicate no evidence of an improvement in 5-year event-free survival (EFS) with the adjuvant approach over early salvage radiotherapy.
