Men with hypogonadism and those undergoing androgen deprivation treatments for prostate cancer are at an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. Bisphophonates are important in the treatment of, and protection against, osteoporosis. This article discusses the use of different bisphosphonates in this patient population, including their mechanisms of action, efficacy and safety.
