Abstract
VEGETATIVE reproduction in Linaria vulgaris is effected by the formation of root-buds at the junction of the parent and some of the lateral roots. Up to four buds may be formed in the superficial layers of the lateral root within the cortex of the parent root1 (Fig. 1), though parent and lateral root tissues are often not separately recognizable in this region (Fig. 2). Bud initiation does not occur until some secondary growth has occurred in the parent root.
