Abstract
CHANGES of ploidy cause various phenotypic effects, and alterations in metabolism have also been noted1–5. These alterations are reflected in differences in concentration of certain metabolites in the various ploid levels. The variation in amount of a given metabolite depends on genotype and species involved4,5. A consistent relationship has, however, been established between the amount of DNA and ploid level regardless of genotype6,7. This communication presents a relationship between ploid level, DNA content, and RNA fractions in 2n and 4n potato analogues.
